Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don't see a band that suits me?
No problem. New bands are forming all the time, and we may already have other musicians waiting to be matched. Register your interest and we'll contact you to discuss your musical tastes, experience and availability.
Can I join with a friend?
Absolutely! Friends are welcome to join together, provided we're able to create or find a band that's a good fit for everyone.
What if I can't make every rehearsal?
We understand that life gets busy. Rock Bands are designed to be more flexible than our Rock Shows. Simply give us at least 24 hours' notice if you're unable to attend, and you won't be charged for that rehearsal. Where possible, we'll also look at arranging a substitute so the band can continue rehearsing.
Do Rock Bands perform live?
Yes! Rock Bands regularly perform at Big Music showcases throughout the year. Unlike Rock Shows, these performances are optional and there is no fixed performance date that every band is working towards.
How are new bands formed?
We match musicians based on their instrument, musical interests, experience and availability. Our aim is to create bands that work well both musically and socially, then support them with professional coaching as they develop.
How much does it cost?
Rock Bands are $95 per rehearsal, including a 90-minute professionally coached session.
Because Rock Bands are designed to be more flexible, you only pay for the rehearsals you attend, provided you give us at least 24 hours' notice if you're unable to make it.
Selected daytime Rock Bands are also available at reduced off-peak rates.
