Learn Drums at Big Music

Big Music offers drum lessons for kids, teens and adults - 7 days a week in our purpose-built studios in Crows Nest.  Our experienced drum teachers work with students of all levels - from complete beginners to advanced players - helping them build strong rhythm, coordination and confidence behind the kit.

Private Drum Lessons

My name is Alexa Young

Our one-on-one drum lessons are personalised to suit each student’s experience, goals and musical interests.

 

Lessons are suitable for:

  • young beginners

  • school-age children

  • teenagers

  • adults and seniors

 

Your drum teacher will tailor lessons to suit your goals, which may include:

  • basic beats and grooves

  • coordination and independence

  • timing and feel

  • reading drum notation

  • following a syllabus with graded exams

  • playing along with your favourite songs

  • preparing for bands and performances

Drum Classes for Kids (ages 5-11)

We also offer fun, social group music classes for children, including:

  • Multi-instrumental after-school music classes (ages 5+) – kids rotate through a variety of instruments including drums, learning rhythm, melody and teamwork

  • Drums-specific group classes (ages 7–11) – a structured, confidence-building way to learn piano alongside friends

These classes are ideal for younger students who thrive in a collaborative, energetic environment.

Drum Lesson Pricing

Private Lessons

Weekly lessons with a dedicated coach in a reserved time slot (in studio or online):

  • 30 mins - $69

  • 60 mins - $125​

​​​Off Peak Private Lessons

Available until 3pm (Mon-Fri) and after 7:30pm (Mon-Thu).  

  • ​30 mins - $60

  • 60 mins - $110 ​​​​

Flexipass: Prepaid Private Lessons

Pay in advance, save and book with flexibility

  • 5 x 30 mins - $320, 10 x 30 mins - $620

  • 5 x 60 mins - $595, 10 x 60 mins - $1150​​

Small Group Classes for Kids

  • Multi-Instrumental Classes: 2-hours weekly - $65

  • Group Drum Classes: 45 mins - Thu 4pm, Sat 2pm - $55 ​
