Sydney Junior Guitar Championships

Last Sunday saw Big Music, supported by Ibanez, host the Sydney Junior Guitar Championships at the Chatswood Concourse, as a part of the Sydney Guitar Festival.

There was a great turnout this year, with contestants travelling from country NSW, interstate and even overseas (not specifically for the event but we will claim it, thank you "Norway Express").

Congratulations to everyone who took the stage. There were plenty of face melting solos and amazing displays of hand dexterity. A couple of bass players even found their way into the spotlight and gave the guitarists a run for their money before receding back into the shadows.

This years host and MC, Head of Performance from Big Music, Damon Lesnie took great pride in handing over the crown of Sydney Junior Guitar Champion 2018 to Big Music's own Tom Forsyth! Tom blew the minds of judges James Morley (The Angels) and Richard Smith (Internationally renowned acoustic guitarist) with a sweep picking masterclass.

Well done Tom Forsyth on winning the award and to everyone who participated. Special mention must go to runner up Ben Gillard who was outstanding on his acoustic guitar. Thank you to Ibanez for providing some awesome prizes and merch for all of the contestants. Already looking forward to next year, see you all then!
