Book Kat Ayala for a Lesson

Kat grew up in the Philippines, in a home filled with food, music, and dancing. She took piano lessons between the ages of 7 and 9, during which she successfully pretended to sight read by memorizing the tunes and the placement of her teacher’s fingers on the keys. She learned pieces from Phantom of The Opera by ear and never wanted to play anything else.

Since then, Kat has dabbled in many other instruments such as the bass guitar, drums, violin, trumpet, and harmonica, but has always returned home to her six-string.

Kat graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Music from Macquarie University in 2009. She has played in many bands in The Philippines, London, and in Sydney. She now plays lead guitar with Big Music’s own Astrid Holz in an all-girl rock outfit called Bonney Read.
