Joey Mawson began learning piano at the age of 4 from his Grandfather who happened to be the Concert Pianist for the Sydney Symphony orchestra! In 2005 he won a scholarship to study a Diploma of Music at Ireland's Source School of Leadership which he finished in 2006. Since returning to Sydney he has had extensive experience in teaching, coaching bands and musical directing. He is currently Head of Music at Seaforth Baptist Church - a position he has held for over 5 years. Joey is open to teaching any style from classical to contemporary. He lets you pick the repertoire and then introduces theory and technique, making sure you enjoy playing and practising every step of the way! He can also incorporate songwriting into your lesson, getting you to create while learning.
